What is included in our WordPress development services
A WordPress project with us covers everything between the first brief and the day the site is live and earning: design, development, content setup, speed and SEO work, and support after launch. Each part is also available on its own.
- Custom WordPress development services. A website built around your business instead of a multipurpose theme: custom page templates, a lean plugin set and an admin that only shows what your editors need.
- WordPress theme development and theme customization. Themes coded from a Figma design, or an existing theme adapted to your brand, content and page structure.
- Plugin development. Calculators, booking flows, custom post types, membership rules, feeds and any feature the plugin market does not solve well.
- API integration. Connecting WordPress to your CRM, payment provider, ERP, email platform or a headless front end.
- Migration. Moving from another CMS, from a page builder or from old hosting to WordPress without losing content, URLs or rankings.
- Speed optimization and security. Core Web Vitals work, caching, image and script optimization, hardening, malware clean-up and monitoring.
- Maintenance and support. Monthly updates, backups, uptime checks and a developer on call for content and layout changes.
- Multisite development. One WordPress installation for several brands, regions or languages with shared components and separate teams.
- WooCommerce development. Online stores on WordPress: product catalogues, checkout, payments, shipping rules and stock synced with your other systems.
How we build a WordPress website
Every project follows the same six stages, so you know what happens next and what you will see at each step. A typical business website takes four to eight weeks from brief to launch.
- Discovery and estimate (week 1). A call about your goals, audience, competitors and the pages you need. You receive a fixed estimate broken down by page and feature, and a schedule.
- Structure and design (weeks 1–3). A sitemap and wireframes first, then the visual design of the key pages in Figma for desktop and mobile. You approve every page before development starts.
- Development (weeks 3–6). A custom theme is coded from the approved design, custom fields are set up so editors change content without touching layouts, and only the plugins that are really needed are installed.
- Content, SEO and speed (week 6–7). We load your content, set titles, descriptions, structured data and redirects from old URLs, then tune caching and images until Core Web Vitals are green on mobile.
- Testing and launch (week 7–8). Real-device testing, forms and integrations checked end to end, then launch on your hosting with SSL and backups configured.
- Handover and support. A short training session for your editors, documentation, a warranty period and an optional maintenance plan.
How much WordPress development costs
A business website on WordPress costs $2,000 to $15,000 with us, depending on the number of unique page designs, custom functionality and content volume. These are the typical ranges we quote:
- Landing page: from $2,000, two to three weeks.
- Business website, 5–15 pages, custom design: from $4,000, four to six weeks.
- Corporate website with blog, multilingual content and integrations: from $8,000, six to ten weeks.
- WooCommerce store: from $6,000, eight to twelve weeks.
- Custom plugin or integration: from $800, quoted per feature.
- Maintenance plan: from $100 a month, including updates, backups, security monitoring and small changes.
The estimate is fixed before we start; if the scope changes during the project, we agree the difference in writing first. For a detailed breakdown of what drives the price, read how much a WordPress website costs.
WordPress projects we have delivered
Three recent WordPress websites, each with a custom theme and its own admin setup:
- Emporioepos, a redesign for a UK provider of EPOS systems: product pages for retail and hospitality, integrations and a lead form that feeds the sales team.
- Sunday Red Golf, a golf club website in the UK with a custom theme, event content and membership information that the club updates itself.
- Siera Data, a website for an Australian risk-management and consulting firm: service pages, insights and a design built to earn trust from enterprise clients.
More projects are in our case studies, including e-commerce and multilingual sites.
Taking over an existing WordPress website
Many clients come to us with a WordPress site that already exists: built by a freelancer who has moved on, slowed down by years of plugins, or broken after an update. We start with an audit of the theme, plugins, hosting, speed and security, then give you a list of what to fix first and what it costs. From there we can repair and speed up the current site, rebuild it on a clean custom theme without losing content or rankings, or simply keep it updated under a maintenance plan.
- Something is broken or hacked: WordPress support and security clean-up. If Google shows Japanese or spam pages for your domain, read how to find and remove the Japanese keyword hack.
- The site is slow: speed optimization of the theme, plugins, images and hosting until Core Web Vitals pass on mobile.
- The site looks dated or is hard to edit: a redesign on a custom theme that keeps your URLs, content and search rankings.
Bespoke WordPress development for UK and US businesses
Webcapitan is a WordPress development company with offices in London and Vinnytsia, Ukraine. Most of our clients are in the United Kingdom and the United States: our working day overlaps fully with the UK and with the morning in New York, so calls, reviews and launches happen in your hours. Every website is bespoke: designed for your brand and content, coded as a custom theme and handed over with documentation, not assembled from a multipurpose template. You work with one team, a project manager, designers and WordPress developers, from the first call to support after launch, and you get a fixed estimate in US dollars, pounds or euros before any work starts.
Custom theme or page builder?
We recommend a custom theme for most business websites because it loads faster, is easier for editors and does not break when a plugin updates. Page builders such as Elementor, Divi or WPBakery are a fair choice for a small budget or when your team wants to move sections around without a developer; the price is heavier pages and more maintenance. We work with both and explain the trade-off before you decide. Read our comparison of Elementor vs custom WordPress development and ready-made themes vs custom design.
Is WordPress the right platform for you?
WordPress is the right choice when your team publishes content regularly, you need to launch within weeks, and you want a platform that any developer can support. It is the wrong choice when the website is really a web application, or when speed and security matter more than editing without a developer; in those cases we build on Next.js instead. Our own website ran on WordPress for years before we moved it to a custom stack, so we know both sides. See WordPress vs a custom CMS for an honest comparison.
